Who is Kelly McMahon?
Hello! Hi! That would be me, Kelly!
Writing to you from sort of sunny California— I’m an illustrator and graphic designer, I grew up in Melbourne, Australia and recently relocated to Los Angeles.
Inspired by pop culture and Mid Century aesthetic, my iconic minimalist stye is composed of well balanced, sophisticated vector shapes and bold colours. After 7 years as a commercial graphic designer I itched to pour colour and whimsy back into my work and pivoted to a career in illustration.
For the last 5 years I’ve been building my own brand and freelance business. I have had the opportunity to work across Australia, New Zealand and the US, collaborate on official merchandise, comic book covers and brooch collections, experience my work in galleries throughout LA and bring my own line of accessories, art prints and projects to life.
2023 marks a new era of my career, one I’ve dreamed of and worked towards for years— that upon stepping into I feel both wildly unprepared for and excited by. An era that makes you cross your fingers and hope the magic doesn’t come undone at the stroke of midnight, revelling a pumpkin and some mice in place of the glittery dream.
