Dear Reader,
It’s been a moment since my last telegram, I had a month away from conventions focusing most of my time around portfolio building and freelance which doesn’t always make for an exciting telegram but does pay the bills and given the current freelance market that is a big bonus!
In addition to this the summer con circuit is back in full swing and I’m looking forward to San Diego Comic Con next weekend! Not only am I back in artist alley but I’ve rallied some friends to come and discuss the best ways to fully take advantage of creative concepts at a panel on Thursday evening. I’ll be breaking down how we put Bad Blood together and sharing some more news about our ‘Seance’ project.
I’ll also be joining Hero Complex Gallery again for their SDCC release!
For now I have a few hundred prints that still need sleeving and a trip to Florida Supercon before this all kicks off. Keep on scrolling for a more detailed break down of this year’s SDCC and any other upcoming shows!
SDCC Panel
I’ll be joining my Bad Blood game designer Nick Cotton (Bad Blood & Rogue Sun) along with Ryan Parrott (Rogue Sun & Power Rangers) and Kyle Higgins (Radiant Black & Batman) to discuss how to take full advantage of a concept with our wonderful host Ryan Sidoti (Invincible Podcast). With AI image generation looming around every corner and the cost of production continuing to go up, it’s increasingly harder to make an impact with projects. We want to take you through our process of thinking outside the box and finding ways to explore projects to their fullest potential.
Thursday July 24 5:30PM - 6:30PM in room 24 ABC
Taking full advantage of a concept– Celebrated illustrator and designer Kelly McMahon and authors Kyle Higgins, Ryan Parrott and Nick Cotton discuss how to explore creative concepts to their fullest potential, through their ground-breaking work on Bad Blood (playing cards with a murder mystery game) and the multimedia stories of Image Comics' Radiant Black (diverging timeline comics and narrative told and enhanced through specialized print) and Rogue Sun (choose your own adventure and flip book comic), moderated by Ryan Sidoti. Get an inside look at how each project was constructed and discover different ways to think about pushing the boundaries of your favourite mediums without breaking the bank!
We hope to see you there!
SDCC Artist Alley
This year I’m stoked to be back in Artist Alley, you can find me at table DD-04 with all my latest prints, accessories and playing cards! I’ll also have some limited edition (50, signed & numbered) 11x17 holo K-Pop Demon hunter prints available along side some 18x24 APs from Gallery 1988. Keep an eye on my instagram story for a full stock preview as we get closer to the show.
Because I’m at an artist alley table I won’t be signing at any other booths. I’ll be on the show floor during opening hours, with the exception of Thursday, I’ll be leaving at 5pm to head to the panel.
Artist Alley is in its usual spot, towards the left most corner of the show floor. The best entrance is through door G, come check us out and pick up some human created art!
